Washing machines are the major machines used in laundry work. The basic function of the machine is to wash clothes using an electro-mechanical system. It has electrical motors built inside the washing unit and the spinning unit separately.

Each unit can operate as an independent machine which means washing and drying can be going-on at the same time inside the machine.

When plugged into an electric power source, the single plug will supply the voltage to the two units simultaneously.

The types and the brands that exist in the market are numerous and not everyone can beat a chest for any particular brand is superior to the others because each brand may have its own lapses which may differ from other brands.

Using washing machines for laundry can make the washing process easier and the clothes neater when used properly.

Some criticisms had been raised concerning the use of the washing machines for clothes with some pointing to the fact that the machine may not be washing clothes properly.

Some said it aids in tearing and weakening of the clothes, etc. despite all these criticisms the commercial boom of the machine had been increasing in the past few years showing a great demand and absence of fear from the users.

However, the manufacturers of the washing machines had been coming up with several designs, sizes, adjustments, and modifications just to suit and satisfy the end consumers.

The online report against washing machines is very low when compared to other machines especially those manufactured from the year 2000 till date.

It is believed these categories of washing machines (the year 2000 till date) were built with more accurate specifications making their sizes correspond to the inbuilt electric motors inside them.

Despite low complaints coming from the washing machine users, few searches had been conducted online concerning some occasional problems the machine usually develops.

Common Problems Of Washing Machines

The problems discussed include the following:

VIBRATIONS: When a washing machine is operating with a serious vibration, it means something is wrong somewhere.

There are many factors that can cause the vibration but to be specific, you need to turn off the machine and note the area the vibration is coming from.

Vibration can come as a result of the unleveled base of the machine, i.e. its base is not balanced horizontally, and that had been a major source of most vibrations.

Another source of the vibration can come from overloading the machine with water & clothes and running it at high speed in that condition.

To ratify the above problem balance the base of the machine, use specified loading conditions, and accurate speed while operating the washing machine.

HITTING SOUNDS: When using washing machines for laundry we often hear a hitting sound coming from the interior of the machine, especially from the spinning unit.

The cause of such sound from the spinning unit is the improper loading of the clothes or overloading.

The best way to ratify it is by turning the machine off & re-arrange the clothes or removing some of them, then starting the machine again. You will observe that it will start working perfectly.

If the sound is coming from the washing unit, it means a button or solid object had been included with the clothes during loading.

Stop the machine and check if any foreign object is in the washing unit, is none; add more water or remove some clothes and start the machine again, the sound may stop.

INABILITY TO WASH OR SPIN CLOTHES AFTER PROPER LOADING: The major reason the machine can be unable to spin or wash clothes after its proper loading can be due to low voltage from the power source.

Inadequate water supply or insufficient water in the machine can aid such problems. The main solution is to operate the machine with its required voltage rating and add enough water with less number of clothes.

WATER LEAKAGE: Washing machines do not leak water under normal conditions, but when excess water had been added into the washing unit, it will start pouring some of the water away as the machine starts to run. The poured water can be seen moving out from the water discharge hose.

The disadvantage of this will be a loss of the detergents added into the water in the machine, as the water level is dropping the detergent also reduces with it.

To avoid this condition, do not fill excess water in the washing machine but rather follow the lines on the machine wall specified by the manufacturer for particular sizes of clothes.

TEARING OF CLOTHES: Though the condition that can make the washing machine start tearing clothes are rare and few complaints had been received in that regard.

If an old cloth or cloth made with the weak material is loaded into the machine and washed with inaccurate speed for up to an hour, the chance of getting the cloth torn is very high.

Every washing machine has speed control and washing duration settings and these units were made according to the cloth types, the number of clothes and how dirty the clothes are, etc. using the proper settings while operating the machine will eliminate such tearing problems.

Conclusion

Besides the above problems of the washing machine, it is believed that others still exist but maybe minimal in occurrence.
