Details Of Robot Ants Made By Festo
According to the scientist in information made available by Mashable, new sets of robot ants have been developed by the Festo group.
The technology behind the robot Ants is quite unique and amazing as compared to other models of robots.
The artificial ants have complete similarities with the actual Ants that can be found in the forest.
Details revealed showed that the inventor mimicked the live Ants in the bush, their teamwork method, and their ability to achieve great tasks through teamwork.
They are expected to work tirelessly with their rechargeable energy and carry out specific duties as assigned by the written program.
But if there is any obstacle like matching on them with the foot or a heavy object falling on them, it may stop their function or damage some of them.
They are highly cooperative, sensitive, focused, and tireless working Ants robots.
The programmer used sets of written program algorithms to sets rules which govern how each Ant operates and the combination of various operations of each Ant leads to the completion of a great task.
The Ants were equipped with special features to make them more sophisticated in their operations.
Some of such functions include; 3D STEREO Camera and sensors to enable the ants to identify nearby objects and contextualize the environment.
The optoelectrical sensor in their Abdomen can also help them to recognize floor structure and its movement in relation to the ground.
The 3D stereo camera can be found at the Ants’ head while the sensors can be found in the abdomen, these two devices add to the unique functionalities of the Robot Ants which include the ability to operate in an environment like the actual Ants would do.
With the sensors, the Ants can recognize each other and have the ability to carry out functions in sequential order as written in the program algorithms.
The movements of the legs are controlled with the written program and they use accumulated electricity which requires little energy for their functions. Besides that, the legs are wear-resistant which would help the durability of the robot.
According to the manufacturer, the Ants are demonstrating how autonomous components can work together to solve a complex task by employing complex algorithms.
And the system is believed to be the future of the operational sequence of production plants where sets of robots can work together to achieve a common goal in a factory.
So the manufacturer believes that the operations of the Ants can be enhanced and used for larger robots to harness teamworking robots for the popular of carrying out critical tasks which ordinarily would be impossible for humans or few robots.
Looking at the robot ants from their operations one may not be able to distinguish them from the actual ants found in the bush and the unique size and function mean that nanorobots smaller than the ants will be possible for the purpose of disease combat and special body check in the human body.
The successful testing and running of these Ants robots may open the door for the next industrial revolution on how the robots would operate the entire production plant without human assistance.
