Features of OWL Tool
How ‘Open Window for Life’ Tool was made to save a life in an emergency situation
Interesting engineering has revealed an ultra-thin escape tool that can shatter the glass of a car to provide emergency assistance to the passengers in the car.
The device has been named Open Window for life or OWL in its short form. It is a new device made available for car owners with the sole aim of breaking/shattering the window glasses of the car in the case of an emergency situation that can be life-threatening.
OWL is a simple device made with flexible material and can be held with hands. Its elasticity provides the means for “pull and release” action.
From the picture below, the sharp-pointed edge metal is fixed at the frontend center while the other end will be fixed into the upper part of the car windows.
When the device is pulled, the elastic property enables it to acquire kinetic energy which helps it to use the sharp-pointed metal at the front in shattering the car window with just a single ‘pull and release’ action.
The OWL can be said to be the smallest yet important auxiliary safety tool so far meant for car users.
With its small size measuring about 7.1-centimeter width and 8.4-centimeter length, it can simply be held with the hand as a thick paper.
The tool is small and thin like a credit card but 5X more powerful than any spring-loaded device.
To use it, simply insert, pull, back and wait a few seconds for the snap. Its kinetic energy acquired creates a heavy impact on the window glass forcing it to break or shatter.
With that, the passenger or driver can find an escape route in a life-threatening situation.
Looking at the device appearance and how effective it is in shattering window glasses, it may not be safe to have it fixed at the car windows when carrying kids in the vehicle, since they may take it to be a fancy device and try to play with it.
Interesting engineering’s coverage showed that it can be kept somewhere inside the car. That makes it easy to use the OWL only when necessary. With such an idea, an accidental shattering of the window glasses by kids can be avoided.
There is no electronic, or external energy source associated with the device rather it is simply an elastic window hammering or punching tool meant to save lives in the case emergency.
Besides breaking/shattering the window glass, the tool also doubles as a seatbelt cutter, freeing the passenger in seconds.
