after repairing the broken tooth of a spur gear on a universal horizontal lathe machine CA6166/3000, the gearbox is not engaging.

Sorry, it seems that you tampered with the tolerance of the gear teeth. Repairing spur gear is a very delicate operation that sometimes may not be successful. The gear teeth have a uniform size and tolerance for engagement. If every other thing in the gearbox is in perfect position and the gear is not engaging then the tolerance has been altered. You need to carry out some adjustment jobs in the gearbox to make it start engaging.
