The quest for alternative energy source to protect the ozone layer had been ongoing following the support from the appropriate organization. Though lots of rechargeable energies like the batteries had been developed with improved capacities and durable discharge time, solar panel manufacturing had been improving as well.

Lots of research are continuously going on the daily basis to see the best alternative to hydrocarbon energy source because of the damage of the ozone layer and the greenhouse effects caused by the combustion of the hydrocarbon fuels.

Efforts for cars, aircraft, and industrial machines, etc. had been made to run with an alternative energy source which includes rechargeable batteries. Using the rechargeable battery for vehicles is very important because it is more reliable than solar energy and wind energy in that regard.

Initially, the use of Lead acid battery using tetra-oxo-sulfate (VI) acid and that of Nickel-based dry cells do not encourage the use of batteries for the powering of any serious machine like the cars to do to their excessive weight and short discharge period.

Until the invention of lithium-ion batteries, the idea of running cars with the initially available rechargeable batteries was countered by the heavyweights of those batteries coupled with their short-time of power discharge.

Electrical energy can now be stored efficiently in the modern lithium-ion based batteries. The new battery has resonated the hope of having aircraft and cars running without fuel and IC engines in them. The battery perved way for light-weight machines technology where electric cars and aircraft can be very possible which is why they modern electric cars and aircraft are bouncing back to dominate the machine world against the IC engines.

Lithium-ion batteries offer many benefits against the existing ones and they include:

Durable power discharge

High-storage power capacity from the electric source

Less weight when compared to the existing batteries

A long life of service

No maintenance is needed, unlike the acid battery that needs changing of acid regularly.

Among other benefits.

Despite all of the lithium-ion batteries’ advantages, the scientists find it’s long-time of charging worrisome. Hence, the researchers had been seeking for speed charging battery material that has all the benefits found in the lithium-ion batteries.

Though not confirmed yet, graphene has been found to possess such properties the researchers are looking for. The experiment conducted with graphene suggested the possibility of becoming the perfect material for the making of future rechargeable batteries that will completely eliminate the presence of the IC engine in every aspect of human technology.

According to the research institute, graphene is a mono-atomic thickness graphite sheet that has long life durability, ion retaining and discharging ability capable of forming a super energetic power storage system when the hundreds of the layers are joined together with other power storing materials in the making of batteries.

Though its official use in the making of battery is yet to commence, the new material of graphite will take the world to its new and awaiting technological revolution. “with graphene supercapacitor static electric batteries will render the already existing energy sources useless and commercially dead”  to the researchers, the world is about to embrace a new invention that will make humans fly like birds in the sky and move with super speed land and air vehicles to any destination without burning any fuel or being afraid of running out of power source.

Some opinion said that the mass production of graphene batteries may start with its combination with the lithium-ion material before gradually moving into full graphene-powered energy storage battery.
