An auto manufacturing firm known for the production of Volvo brands of cars had been a popular name in the auto industry. The firm has revealed their plan for the manufacturing of a special saloon designed to rival the trending 3 Series and Audi A4 sets of .
The design of the new named the S60 model was unveiled in Charleston, South Carolina. It is a specially designed indeed as the manufacturers indicated that it will become a “true driver’s ” a statement believed to show that the may become a dream of many sport lovers.
The site for the mass production of the said special had been sited at their new US factory which will be the sole global production site. Based on that the firm had recently opened their first US factory ahead of the production and unveiling of the new model.
According to the source, the S60 saloon will be built on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) and will share much of its technology with their recently launched V60 model.
The firm’s research and development boss, Mr. Henrik Green said that active chassis, driving models that deliver excellent control and an engagement platform are things that will make the the “driver’s ”.
S60 saloon had been predicted to be on sale from early 2019 where the will be offered in the UK with a choice of four petrol including two plug-in hybrids which is to fulfill the Volvo’s pledge to offer electrified versions of all their new models from 2019.
The plug-n will include the Volvo’s supercharged 2.0-litre TB twin . The will produce 385bhp with the 299bhp petrol driving the front wheels and the 65KW electric unit that will power the rear axle.
The car model will offer 472lb ft. with the ability to achieve 0-62mph in 4.9seconds on its way to a top speed of 155mph.
The car’s T8 twin motor will have the polestar engineered performance upgrade developed by . And the upgrade includes brakes, revamped wheels, suspension, and tweaked ECU which helps to boost the combined power to 409bhp.
The will produce 494lb ft. with the polestar engineered support which 0.2 secs faster to 62mph to the regular version. But the maximum speed is unchanged.
At the entry level, the is the 246bhp four-cylinder turbocharged T5 with a front-wheel drive and its fuel economy ranges from 7.2l/km to 8.1l/km.
The is 4761mm long and 2040mm wide which include the while its height is 1431mm and has a wheelbase of 2872. The total weight will be 1680kg and can store up to 42 liters of fuel.
It shares the V60’s safety and sensus connect infotainment systems. Which include optional pilot assistance system and city safety braking capacity.
The cost of the new is yet to be made known but some predict the UK price to be at £31,810.
According to Autocar's publication, here is the production plan for the S60 saloon “The S60 will be built at Volvo’s new Charleston factory, which was officially inaugurated today. The £772-million-pound facility, which has been under construction since 2015, will employ around 1500 people initially. That will expand to 4000 when it reached full capacity of 150,000 annually.
As well as the S60 the next-generation XC90, due in 2021, will be built at the plant, which covers 1600 acres on a 2.3-million-square-foot site.”
